Wine Merchants Event

good times

Last night the Caviarblog team made it out to the San Francisco Ferry Building for the Wine Merchants private tasting event. The event included over a dozen different wine makers in addition to a delicious selection from the famous Ferry Building Marketplace that included oysters from Hog Island Oyster Co., fish tacos from Gott’s Roadside, and various cured meats from Boccalone.

with pleasure

Another notable stand was the combination of Prather Ranch Meat Co. and The Slanted Door, where Chef Charles Phan was a finalist for the 2011 James Beard Award for Outstanding Chef. And of course there was a healthy selection of trout, sterlet, and osetra caviar provided by Ali and Pacific Plaza.

In addition to the various wines, there were a few stands serving some interesting cocktails. There was an incredible martini served with Nolet’s Gin. Nolet’s is also the maker of Ketel One vodka. Right next to Ali’sbooth was a vodka from Fair, the world’s first maker of fair trade spirits. It was made from Quinoa and made a great pairing with the caviar.

great turnout

The Wine Merchants put on a great event last night. Almost all of the selections at the event are available from their store in the Ferry Building, including the caviar. If you’re in San Francisco make sure to swing by. The Ferry Building offers a unique experience with great views and a high concentration of cafes, restaurants, and food stores.  I guarantee you’ll be very happy you stopped by if you do.
